Registration Assistant, Part-Time, Denver Art Museum, CO

    POSITION PURPOSE:

    The Registration Assistant will assist with budgeted registration projects involving the creation and maintenance of records, collections database, and documentation for incoming artworks, loans, or traveling exhibitions. Unpacks and conditions artwork and assists with research and cataloging collection projects. Assists in the management and maintenance of temporary storage areas, hard file records, file archival rehousing, and file cleanup.

    This position reports to the Senior Registrar, Registration and Traveling Exhibition Services.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Assists with coordination of art shipments, including packing and arrangements, insurance coverage, and associated documentation.
    • Assists with unpacking, packing, cataloging, conditioning, and moving artwork.
    • Physically numbers, generates tags and barcode IDs, and assists with rehousing incoming artworks.
    • Prepares registration documentation (receipts, condition reports, loan agreements, etc.).
    • Undertakes data-entry and reporting on collections database.
    • Assists with maintaining files, records, and working on collection research and cataloging projects.
    • Assists with doing condition documentation photography in digitized format.
    • Assists with collection inventories and storage moves.
    • Oversees access to and appointments in Registrar’s artwork holding area.
    • Assists with file and records room projects including archival file organization, rehousing, cleanup, and basic filing.
    • Consistent usage of the Racial Equity Lens in day-to-day operations.
    • Yearly goal setting to support Racial Equity Roadmap initiative.
    • Promote and implement institutional EDI initiatives.
    • Additional duties as assigned.

    QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, Skills, etc.):

    • High level of attention to detail, ensuring correct documentation at all levels, with ability to cross-check and verify documentation from sources within and outside the Denver Art Museum.
    • Strong organizational skills.
    • Ability to communicate professionally with donors and lenders in written and verbal formats.
    • Ability to work without immediate supervision and review of work-product.
    • Ability to track status of multiple projects and to see projects to conclusion.

    WORKING ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES:

    • Museum campus, off-site storage, and office setting.
    • Lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 50 lbs.
    • Standing, walking, sitting, and climbing.
    • Eye/hand/foot coordination.

    MATERIAL AND EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED:

    • Computer and software (ARGUS.net Collection Management System; Adobe Acrobat and Photoshop; Microsoft Suite, including Word, Excel, Planner, and Outlook
    • Copier, fax machine, and scanner
    • A-frame, furniture dolly, object cart, and pallet jack
    • Museum van for art transports

    Pay: The hiring hourly range for the position is $20.00-$22.50 based on experience.
